Action it Theatre Company

we are ready to welcome you!

HOMESTAY UK - This page is under construction

What better way to learn a language but to fully submerge yourself into the learning process by being part of a British family, developing your conversational skills and learning about British culture at the same time!

Full immersion in an English family life has many key benefits. Students stay in

a secure family environment which is welcoming and friendly, making the students

feel at ease, allowing them to feel comfortable when communicating in English.

Other benefits to homestays are: –

• Full exposure to the English Language and English culture.

• Being able to participate in English family activities.

• Not being able to communicate in their own language will encourage and

stimulate learning.

• Full immersion will improve vocabulary, grammar and fluency in

conversation.

• Having a sense of independence – allowing the individual to grow both

socially and personally away from home influences.

• Try new activities and visit new places – encouraging a sense of

appreciation for culture and heritage.

• After a short time, the student will automatically start to think in English.

During the homestay students will be involved

with various activities to stimulate their learning and

build confidence. Students will be able to integrate with the family’s day to day activities and will hopefully develop lifelong friendships.

Learning everyday vocabulary

Cooking and Baking – Students will be given a

receipe in English and with our support they will

follow the instructions to create a delicious meal or

snack.

Teen girls shopping in supermarket reading product information. Choosing daily product.

Some activities that the students will partake in are: –

Shopping – we give the student a list and with our

support, they must find as many items in the

supermarket as possible, asking staff or members of

the public questions, in order to find the product.

This will help develop vocabulary and will also help them to gain an understanding into the value of our currency.

Eating out – we will give the student the opportunity to

develop vocabulary based on ordering food and drink.  They will be able to pay with English money and

write a review on their experience.

Eating out will help students learn about food and will allow them to experience English cuisine.

our week depending on availability. and the schedule of other events.

Travel

It is the family’s responsibility to book flights at their own cost. Please note that most airlines will not let minors fly unaccompanied and we do not recommend this. Please check the airlines policy if you intend to allow your child to fly alone, as they may offer a chaperone service.

Once the flight lands we will be at the gate to meet your child. At the end of the stay we will take

your child back to the airport and ensure they go through check in and departures safely.

We will not leave the airport until the flight has taken off.

The closest airport is East Midlands (EMA) – from here it will take approximately 1hr 15 mins in the car.
